A sanitary sewer main carrying wastewater from the Iowa’s Crossroads of Global Innovation industrial park broke Wednesday night, releasing about 1.1 million gallons of sewage.

The wastewater went into a farm field then into a drainage tile and eventually into Lizard Creek.

People are urged stay out of Lizard Creek, although initial tests have not revealed high levels of pollution.
