WCPH confirms one new COVID-19 case

Webster County Public Health confirmed one new COVID-19 case on Thursday, increasing the county’s confirmed total to 19.

The new case is an adult aged 18-40.

According to the Iowa Department of Public Health, 1,190 Webster County residents have been tested for COVID-19. There have been 1,170 negative test results and 20 positive test results. There has been one death attributed to COVID-19 in the county and 10 residents have recovered.

WCPH noted on Thursday that the IDPH website updates its numbers in real time, but that does not mean that disease investigations and contact tracing have been done prior to the state and county updates online.

“As we have noted in the past, there are circumstances in which a case has been credited to the county when it should be credited to another county because of exposure and patient’s address,” Kelli Bloomquist, public information officer for the WCPH said. “This is determined though disease investigation, thus our numbers may continue to ebb and flow up and down as our public health nurses complete these processes. Webster County Public Health will confirm the cases that we know to be credited to us.”
