Hit and run

Fort Dodge Police Department is investigating a hit-and-run incident that happened just before 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. According to Lt. Joe Bates and witness reports, a 1997 dark blue Ford Explorer hit or caused a motorcycle rider on a 2003 red Honda to crash at the intersection of Eighth Avenue North and North 22nd Street. The victim, who was not identified, was taken by ambulance to UnityPoint Health – Trinity Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. A short time after the hit-and-run, the Explorer was found abandoned on Elmhurst Avenue. As of press time on Thursday, police were still trying to identify the driver of the Explorer.
