Crash sends one to hospital

A Fort Dodge man was injured after losing control of the truck he was driving in the 1600 block of Seventh Avenue North Friday at about 10:18 p.m., according to Lt. Joe Bates, of the Fort Dodge Police Department. The truck, driven by Hunter Alexander, 19, knocked over a tree before coming to a stop in a yard on the north side of the street. The airbags deployed in front of him, according to police reports. He was wearing a seat belt. Witnesses reported Alexander was drag racing another vehicle before crashing into the tree. Alexander was transported to UnityPoint Health — Trinity Regional Medical Center with what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries. Police believe alcohol may have contributed to the crash. The crash remains under investigation. The Fort Dodge Police Department and Fort Dodge Fire Department responded.
