Emergency personnel work to extract driver Edward Newsome-Crooks, 29, from his overturned Ford F-150 pickup truck following a single-car rollover accident on Lainson Avenue on Sunday night.
Alcohol likely played a factor in a single-car crash that happened Sunday night on Lainson Avenue, just south of the Highway 7 junction, Iowa State Patrol Trooper Brenda Rinard said.
Shortly before 10 p.m. on Sunday, Edward Newsome-Crooks, 29, of Fort Dodge, was traveling southbound on Lainson Avenue in his Ford F-150 pickup truck.
“He lost control and hit one side of the bridge, overcorrected, hit the other side of the bridge and then rolled,” Rinard said.
The truck eventually landed on its top, blocking both lanes of southbound traffic. There were no other passengers in the vehicle.
When paramedics arrived, Newsome-Crooks was alert and responsive. Emergency personnel were able to extract the driver from the vehicle and then transport him to UnityPoint Health — Trinity Regional Medical Center by ambulance.

Rinard said another trooper was able to talk to Newsome-Crooks before he went into X-ray at the hospital, adding that she didn’t know the extent of his injuries, but believed them to be not life-threatening. As of Monday afternoon, Rinard did not know if Newsome-Crooks had been released from the hospital.
Charges related to the incident are still pending and the accident remains under investigation, Rinard said.
The Iowa State Patrol was assisted by the Fort Dodge Police Department and Fort Dodge Fire Rescue.
