No injuries in Thursday morning crash near Valero

By Kelby Wingert 1 min read

There were no injuries reported following a Thursday morning collision between a Dodge Journey SUV and two semi-trailers near the Valero Renewables ethanol plant west of Fort Dodge, according to the Iowa State Patrol.

According to Sgt. Aaron Smidt with the Iowa State Patrol, a westbound semi-trailer was stopped in the turning lane to turn south into the Valero plant when an oncoming car traveling eastbound, the Dodge Journey SUV, drifted into the center turning lane for "unknown reasons" and "struck that semi basically head-on."

After the Dodge Journey struck the first semi, it spun around and collided with a second semi that was sitting at the stop sign leaving the Valero plant to head eastbound toward Fort Dodge.

There were no complaints of injuries, Smidt said.

No citations have been made in connection with the incident.

"Not yet, but I would imagine there will possibly be charges with that after the trooper finishes the investigation," Smidt said.

The investigation is still ongoing.
