FD man sentenced for drug, gun convictions

SIOUX CITY — A Fort Dodge man was sentenced to 61 months in prison in federal court this week after pleading guilty to distributing drugs and possessing a firearm for drug trafficking.

Quinn Schleimer, 22, pleaded guilty on Oct. 22, 2019, to two counts of distribution of cocaine and one count of possession of a firearm during a drug trafficking crime, according to a press release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Iowa.

Schleimer admitted to distributing one-eighth of an ounce of powder cocaine three times in 2017 to someone cooperating with law enforcement. He also admitted to selling about 4.5 ounces of cocaine and 10 pounds of marijuana during the same year at his plea hearing.

During a search of Schleimer’s residence, officers seized two loaded shotguns, one with its barrel sawed off.

Schleimer was sentenced by U.S. District Court Chief Judge Leonard T. Strand. Following prison, he’ll be required to serve a three-year term of supervised release. There is no parole in the federal system.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Shawn S. Wehde and was investigated by the Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement, Fort Dodge Police Department, Iowa Division of Criminalistics Laboratory and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
