Future board meetings to be conducted via Zoom

The Fort Dodge Community School District Board of Education adopted its 2020-2021 certified budget during an electronic meeting on Monday night.

Board members, members of the media, district staff and community members attended the meeting via the video conferencing service Zoom.

The school budget for fiscal year 2020-2021 will be $86,574,455 in revenue and $86,574,455 in expenses.

The tax rate will be $16.55 per $1,000 taxable valuation.

The district also ratified agreements with the Maintenance Employees Bargaining Unit and the Secretarial/Clerical Education Bargaining Unit during the Monday night meeting.

Following negotiations with the maintenance union, the base wages for the various custodian and maintenance positions ranges from $23.16 per hour for a custodian to $25 per hour for a bus mechanic master craftsman.

The negotiations with the secretarial union resulted in the new base wage for the secretary and clerical staff of $14.19 per hour.

“Every year that they come to the table, they bring good ideas, we’ve been able to work through some language things of various different items,” Superintendent Dr. Jesse Ulrich said.

All FDCSD board meetings will be conducted via Zoom while the precautions limiting large groups are in place.

The district will release the web link for the meetings publicly on its website and social media pages on the day of the meetings.
