Vehicle shot Friday, no one injured
Search results in seizure of firearm at FD residence
The Fort Dodge Police Department reported an occupied vehicle was shot at early Friday morning in the 1300 block of Eighth Avenue South.
With corroborating reports from a male and female sitting in the car, Fort Dodge police verified that the vehicle had been hit by gunfire at least two times at approximately 8 a.m.
Capt. Ryan Gruenberg, public information officer, said that officers combing the area found evidence of shots with several spent shell casings.
A subsequent search warrant was conducted at a residence in Fort Dodge, where a firearm was located and seized.
“The firearm was consistent with having fired the spent shell casings in the area,” Gruenberg said. “Based on information and evidence we have collected to this point, we are confident this incident involved individuals known to each other and was not a random act.”
No charges have been filed as of Monday. No injuries were reported in the event.
The investigation continues as officers piece together information to determine the events that transpired up until the shooting.
