A man suffered burns and smoke inhalation in a Thursday morning fire that destroyed a trailer home in Fort Dodge.

He was taken to UnityPoint Health ­ Trinity Regional Medical Center, according to Fire Chief Steve Hergenreter.

The fire at 1338 Third Ave. N.W. was reported at about 9 a.m.

Hergenreter said the fire started when the man tried to thaw some frozen pipes.
