A 17-year-old from Gowrie was transported to UnityPoint Health — Trinity Regional Medical Center on Sunday morning for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries following a collision at the intersection of Kenyon Road and Avenue C, according to Fort Dodge Police Sgt. Zach Stanley.

At approximately 10:31 a.m. on Sunday, David Harrison, 46, of Fort Dodge, was driving west on Kenyon Road in a maroon Chevrolet Blazer and was preparing to turn left onto Avenue C.

“He had a green light and the oncoming traffic also had a green light,” Stanley said.

The blue Jeep Liberty driven by Rhandy Splawn, 17, of Gowrie, was traveling east on Kenyon Road toward the Kenyon Road Bridge.

“Harrison failed to yield on that left turn and he cut her off and that’s where they collided at,” Stanley said.

The initial caller reporting the accident said that Splawn was unconscious, Stanley said, but emergency personnel were on scene “almost immediately” and were able to get a response from her before she was transported to TRMC for treatment.

There were no passengers in either vehicle.

Harrison was cited for failure to yield upon a left turn, Stanley said.
