Fort Dodge police responded to an accident that temporarily blocked the intersection of South 29th Street and Fifth Avenue South Thursday at 1:12 p.m. Sgt. Paul Samuelson said that a black Chevrolet Equinox traveling west on Fifth Avenue South collided with an eastbound red Chevrolet Blazer as the Equinox attempted to make an unprotected left turn at the stoplight onto South 29th Street. The collision was a result of the Blazer hitting the Equinox. The driver of the Equinox, Nathan Calmer, was cited for failure to yield upon a left turn. The driver of the Blazer, Michael Bailey, was cited for failure to have proof of insurance. A passenger in the Blazer complained of minor neck and back pain, but refused ambulance transportation after being examined by paramedics.
