Supervisors accept compensation board recommendations

Webster County supervisors accepted compensation board recommendations giving a raise to elected officials, approved departmental appropriations and accepted bids for remodeling the county recorder’s office.

The Board of Compensation recommended earlier this month a 3% raise across the board for elected officials. The raise, approved Tuesday by supervisors, will adjust elected officials’ salaries to:

• Sheriff — $98,880, up from $96,000;

• Supervisor — $40,170, up from $39,000;

• Supervisor chairman — $41,200, up from $40,000;

• Auditor — $72,100, up from $70,000;

• Treasurer — $72,100, up from $70,000;

• Recorder — $72,100, up from $70,000;

• Attorney — $123,600, up from $120,000;

• Assessor — $88,736, up from $86,151;

• Board of Health Director — $115,385, up from $112,024;

• Board of Health Chief Financial Officer — $82,349, up from $79,950;

• Human Resource Director — $87,550, up from $85,000.

Supervisors also authorized an amendment to the county budget for fiscal year 2019-2020, approving increases in department appropriation expenses to:

• Auditor — $8,500

• Law Enforcement Center — $5,450

• Veterans Affairs — $10,000

• Medical Examiner — $25,000

• Clerk of Courts — $13,000

• Courthouse restoration — $5,700,000

• Radio purchases — $2,500,000

• Non-departmental (including capital project repairs and insurance damage repairs) — $1,335,000

Bids to replace the carpet, counter tops and paint in the county recorder’s office amounted to $11,162. The low bid for painting was awarded to Clavin Painting, LLC ($3,500); the low bid for new flooring was awarded to Flooring America Design Center ($5,250); the low bid for counter tops was awarded to Midwest Top Shop Inc ($2,411).
