Fort Dodge firefighters and paramedics carry the injured driver of a one-vehicle crash to an ambulance Tuesday afternoon at the scene of a crash east of National Avenue and Patterson Field Road. According to Fort Dodge Police Lt. Dennis Mernka, the driver of the car suffered a medical condition before the accident. The man was transported to UnityPoint Health — Trinity Regional Medical Center. Mernka said the driver went off the road about 100 yards south of the railroad bridge and went through about 600 yards of brush before the vehicle came to rest. Several individuals saw the accident occur. “He’s very lucky he was seen,” Mernka said. “There’s snow and the car is white.” Fort Dodge Police, the Webster County Sheriff’s Department and the Fort Dodge Fire Department responded to the call.
