John Bruner, executive committee chairman for the Webster County Crime Stoppers group, presents The Messenger Publisher Emeritus Larry Bushman, right, with their Top Gun award Tuesday afternoon at The Messenger’s offices in downtown Fort Dodge.

Bushman was recognized for his advisory and support role for the group since their organization in 1982.

“He shared all of the people and staff,” Bruner said.

Bushman was grateful for the award and credited his staff. “It was all Messenger people that made this happen,” Bushman said. “We engaged our people as a partner.”

The award is given periodically by the group to recognize individuals or organizations that have contributed greatly to their efforts.

About 20 members of the group, law enforcement officials and The Messenger staff attended the award presentation.
