Two Humboldt men arrested after Saturday night stabbing incident

Two Humboldt men were arrested Saturday night following an incident at Kingz Lounge, 16 N. Seventh St., which sent another man to the hospital with a stab wound.

According to the Fort Dodge Police Department, Antonio Vallejo, 25, and Esteban Huete, 24, were involved in a physical altercation with Kingz Lounge security staff outside the downtown Fort Dodge bar around 10:50 p.m. on Saturday.

The altercation stemmed from an individual being removed from the establishment by staff.

During the altercation, police say, Kingz Lounge security staff member Trent Hiracheta, 41, of Fort Dodge, was stabbed in his upper back by Vallejo.

Hiracheta was taken to UnityPoint Health — Trinity Regional Medical Center for treatment of his injuries, which were not life-threatening, according to FDPD Public Information Officer Capt. Ryan Gruenberg.

Approximately 20 minutes after the initial call, police located a suspect nearby based on information provided by witnesses at the scene. That suspect, along with other witnesses, were taken to the Webster County Law Enforcement Center and as a result of the investigation, two individuals were taken into custody.

The knife allegedly used by Vallejo during the incident had not been located by officers as of Monday morning, Gruenberg said. He said that officers were still searching for the weapon.

Vallejo was charged with willful injury causing bodily injury, a Class D felony, police reported. Huete was charged with assault, a simple misdemeanor.

While the exact relationship between Vallejo and Huete is unclear, Gruenberg said they were part of the same social group that was out at the bar that night.

In Webster County Magistrate Court Monday morning, Huete pleaded guilty to the simple misdemeanor assault charge and was sentenced to 10 days in jail, with all but two days suspended.

Vallejo’s preliminary hearing is set for Monday. He is being held at the Webster County Jail on a $25,000 cash-only bond.

Starting at $4.94/week.
