Police nab fugitive at Webster City home

Johnson faces multiple charges, including attempted murder

WEBSTER CITY -- Webster City Police on Tuesday night arrested a fugitive wanted on several charges, including attempt to commit murder.

Webster City Police officers received information that Jeffrey Scott Johnson, who had been wanted by police since June, was hiding in a residence located at 923 Boone St.

Officers obtained a search warrant for the address and executed the warrant at 5:05 p.m. Tuesday. Johnson, 34, had barricaded himself in the attic of the residence and refused to surrender. After a brief standoff, Johnson surrendered and was placed in custody.

Johnson was charged with attempt to commit murder, a Class B felony; kidnapping in the third degree, a Class C felony; and domestic abuse assault, an aggravated misdemeanor.

Also arrested as a result of the incident was Tiffany Lynn Anderson, 31. Anderson was charged with accessory after the fact, an aggravated misdemeanor, and criminal mischief in the fifth degree, a simple misdemeanor.

"This was an example of the public coming forward with solid information and excellent work from extremely dedicated officers. A very dangerous situation was brought to a peaceful conclusion without anyone getting hurt." Chief Shiloh Mork said.

The Webster City Police Department was assisted at the scene by the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office.
