Lu Verne shooting victim identified

LU VERNE – The victim in a Wednesday morning bank robbery and shooting has been identified by the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office.

Jessica Weishaar, 43, was an employee of Security State Bank. She was found by emergency personnel lying on the sidewalk in front of the bank, located at 102 Dewitt St., following a robbery around 8:40 a.m. Weishaar died at the scene from an apparent gunshot wound, officials report.

Officers were able to identify a subject and vehicle from eyewitness descriptions and surveillance footage. Law enforcement later stopped a vehicle matching that description on Interstate 35 at the 158 mile marker, and the driver is being detained while the investigation continues, Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office said.

The Sheriff’s Office said there is no on-going threat to the community. If anyone has any information on the incident, they are asked to call the Kossuth County Sheriff at 515-295-3514.
