Juvenile charged with harassment

WEBSTER CITY — A juvenile male is charged with harassment in connection to threats of robbery made against multiple businesses, according to the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office.

Due to the age of the offender, his name has not been released.

According to officials, the Hamilton County 911 dispatch center was called on Thursday. The caller was concerned about the possibility of businesses in Hamilton County being robbed near closing time on Friday.

During the morning hours of Friday, a juvenile male was identified by law enforcement as a potential suspect.

He was interviewed and taken into custody without incident, the Sheriff’s Office reported.

The male was later transported by Central Iowa Detention to the Eldora detention center.

The suspect is charged with first-degree harassment, an aggravated misdemeanor.

Officials believe the juvenile was acting alone and “there are no credible threats to the citizens of Hamilton County relating to this incident.”
