Emmetsburg woman dies in head-on collision near Pocahontas

POCAHONTAS — An Emmetsburg woman died after two vehicles collided head-on, north of Pocahontas Friday morning, according to the Iowa State Patrol.

Sgt. Wes Niles, of the Iowa State Patrol, identified the deceased woman as Kendra Myers, 52.

The crash was reported at 9:50 a.m.

According to Niles, Myers was traveling southbound in a Chevrolet Impala.

She was driving half a mile north of 470th Street on Iowa Highway 4, Niles reported.

Meanwhile, Michael Diischer, 64, of Pocahontas, was driving a Chevrolet Trailblazer northbound on Iowa Highway 4.

According to Niles, evidence suggests the vehicle Diischer was driving crossed the center line and went into the southbound lane, where it collided with Myers’ vehicle.

Diischer was transported to Pocahontas Community Hospital with incapacitating injuries.

Myers was also transported to Pocahontas Community Hospital, where she died from injuries suffered in the crash.

The Iowa State Patrol continues its investigation.
