Police investigate shots fired call

Fort Dodge Police Lt. Dennis Quinn talks with Shawn Hungate, 48, of Fort Dodge, after he was detained Wednesday as officers investigated a report of shots fired in the area of the Best Western Starlite Village Inn and Suites. Quinn said that they were sent to the area at 10:54 a.m. for a report of shots fired. He said that police were unable to locate a red car reported to be have been involved, and did not find any witnesses or any other indications that shots had been fired in the area. They did locate Hungate in the area. He was taken into custody and appeared to be heavily intoxicated. Quinn said he was transported to the Webster County Jail after a medical examination at UnityPoint Health — Trinity Regional Medical Center and would be charged with disorderly conduct.
