Myers to run for FD council in Ward 2

Justin Myers has entered the Fort Dodge City Council race in Ward 2.

”Running for City Council is something I’ve wanted to do for a long time and I’m finally in a place in life where I can do it right,” he said.

”As a councilman, my agenda would be based on the views and priorities of the citizens of the south side, not my personal opinions.” he added. ”After all, it is a representative role, not an executive one.”

Ward 2 is the southern half of the city.

Councilman Dean Hill represents the ward. He has not yet said if he will seek re-election.

Myers, of 1924 Second Ave. S., works for Mediacom Communications Corp.

He is a native of Webster County who said his childhood home had a Fort Dodge address and a Clare phone number.

He graduated from Manson Northwest Webster High School and earned an associate degree from Des Moines Area Community College. He then earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Buena Vista University in Storm Lake.

Myers has served as a volunteer with Feed My Starving Children meal packing events.

The only other candidates to file nominating petitions so far are Councilman Terry Moehnke (Ward 1) and Councilman Kim Alstott (Ward 4).
