Iowa Central forms new partnership
College working on new Workforce Marketing Coordinator position with PCEDC
Iowa Central Community College is finalizing a partnership to create a new shared workforce position with the Pocahontas County Economic Development Commission.
Iowa Central President Dan Kinney updated the college’s Board of Directors on the progress of a memorandum of understanding with the PCEDC for the shared staff position between the two entities. The MOU will establish the workforce marketing coordinator position, which will fall under both the commission and the college, with each paying 50 percent of the salary.
“I think you’re going to see more of these positions come forward,” Kinney said. “Because they’re in there working with businesses and they can work on the training, set up the training program, help work on that kind of stuff and help be that relay between us.”
Kinney said he thinks this newly-established position is going to be interesting and “the wave of the future.”
“I’m excited,” the president said. “I think we’re going to have some synergies together that’s really going to help.”
Kinney expects the MOU to be finalized later this week and to be signed by both entities, officially establishing the partnership, in the coming weeks.
