Fort Dodge man convicted of distributing meth

Wunder sold to workers at Liguria Foods

A Fort Dodge man who sold methamphetamine to multiple workers at Liguria Foods in Humboldt was convicted by a jury on Thursday in federal court, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Iowa.

Timothy Wunder, 44, was convicted of conspiracy to distribute meth.

The jury deliberated for about three hours after a three-day trial in Sioux City.

Evidence showed that from about February 2017 through March 2018, Wunder and others conspired to distribute more than 50 grams of actual pure meth, prosecutors reported.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, multiple witnesses testified as to their involvement in obtaining meth from Wunder for personal use and further distribution.

Evidence showed that during the time period for the conspiracy, Wunder sold small quantities of meth to several workers at Liguria Foods in Humboldt.

Wunder was working for Liguria at the time, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Wunder has a previous conviction of conspiracy to manufacture and distribute meth. In 2002, he was convicted of conspiracy to manufacture and distribute 50 grams or more of meth and possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Iowa.

Sentencing for his most recent conviction will be set after a presentence report is prepared.

Sentencing will be before U.S. District Court Chief Judge Leonard T. Strand.

Wunder faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years and a possible maximum sentence of life imprisonment, a $20,000,000 fine, and at least 10 years of supervised release following any imprisonment.

Wunder remains in custody of the U.S. Marshal pending sentencing.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Shawn S. Wehde. It was investigated by the Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement, Wright County sheriff’s office, Humboldt County sheriff’s office, Fort Dodge Police Department, Eagle Grove Police Department and Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation.
