Body of missing FD man found in Dickinson County

Prayer service scheduled today at St. Edmond at 3 p.m.

Dickinson County – The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that the body of missing Fort Dodge resident Vincent “Vinnie” Harvey has been found.

A prayer service for Harvey and his family will be held today at 3 p.m. at St. Edmond Catholic School.

Harvey, 24, had been last seen near the docks at Parks Marina on Lake Okoboji around 11:30 p.m. on Saturday night. He was reported missing on Sunday morning.

According to a press release from the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were walking the docks and shoreline near the Barefoot Bar at around 11:53 p.m. on Monday night when a deputy located an object in the water approximately 45 yards from shore and 15 yards east of a dock. The deputies determined the object was a body and contacted the Arnolds Park/Okoboji Fire and Rescue Dive Team.

The dive team was able to recover the body and it was subsequently identified as the missing Harvey and Harvey’s family was notified.

Harvey, a 2014 graduate of St. Edmond High School, also played football and wrestled for Iowa Central Community College until he graduated in 2016. Harvey, the son of Joe and Kelly Harvey, is St. Edmond’s all-time wins leader in wrestling and was the 2014 state wrestling runner-up.

The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office organized a search that ran through Sunday and Monday. The department was joined by the Spirit Lake Fire Department, the Arnolds Park/Okoboji dive team, Spirit Lake and Okoboji police departments and a cadaver dog unit from Brookings County, South Dakota, Canine Search and Rescue.
