FD man arrested in connection to New Star robbery

Incident happened early Monday morning

Police have made an arrest in connection to an early Monday morning robbery at New Star Mini Mart, 1923 Fifth Ave. S., the Fort Dodge Police Department reported.

Dakota J. Remme, 19, of Fort Dodge, is charged with first-degree robbery, a class B felony; going armed with intent, a class C felony; and trafficking stolen weapons, a class C felony.

The robbery was reported by a store employee at 1:04 a.m. Monday.

Remme is accused of displaying a weapon and taking an undisclosed amount of money from the store, police reported.

No one was injured, according to police.

After the alleged robbery, the man reportedly left the store and ran west.

“Fort Dodge police did a thorough search for the suspect in the surrounding area, but were unable to locate him,” Capt. Ryan Gruenberg, of the Fort Dodge Police Department said.

The suspect was described as a white male wearing a white T-shirt, blue jeans, and a mask to cover his face. He was described as having a larger build.

Remme was arrested Monday afternoon. He is being held in the Webster County Jail.

Remme is expected to make his initial appearance in Webster County Magistrate Court on Tuesday.

The Fort Dodge Police Department’s criminal investigations division is continuing to follow up on the case.
