DAYTON — Two people were injured Sunday evening after a pickup truck and a motorcycle collided in Dayton.

The accident happened just before 6 p.m. at the intersection of Third Street Northwest and Fourth Avenue Northwest.

Dayton Police Chief Nick Dunbar said a pickup truck was pulling out of the Casey’s General Store parking lot. As it left the lot, it collided with a motorcycle that was heading north on Third Street Northwest.

The two people on the motorcycle, a man and a woman, were both injured, while the pickup driver was not hurt.

Dunbar said both people on the motorcycle were transported to UnityPoint Health — Trinity Regional Medical Center. The man was airlifted by the UnityPoint Health air ambulance, while the woman was taken by ground ambulance.

He didn’t know the extent of either’s injuries, but he did say they appeared to be non-life-threatening.

Dunbar is still investigating the incident and said more information will likely be released today, including names of those involved.

The Webster County Sheriff’s Department, Iowa State Patrol and Fort Dodge Fire Department also responded to the scene.
