Market on Central returns this Thursday
Organizers of Market on Central are hoping for higher attendance with fewer events in 2019.
“We talked about trying to do fewer, larger events,” said Lydia Schuur, the communications director for the Greater Fort Dodge Growth Alliance. “That’s why there is three this year instead of the eight that have been in the past.”
The first Market on Central of the year is Thursday from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
The market will take up Central Avenue from Seventh Street to Ninth Street and include part of North and South Eighth Street.
More than 20 vendors will be on hand, offering a wide range of items including food, drinks, arts, and crafts, according to Schuur.
One new vendor out of Rockwell City is Stay Grounded Caffe.
Schuur said that’s a mobile coffee truck that will offer hot and iced coffees, smoothies, and teas.
Starshine Tie Dye, Stripling Apiary, and Soldier Creek Winery, are other vendors that will be set up along Central Avenue.
Jive for Five will perform live music.
“We will have additional seating near the food vendors and entertainment areas so you can sit back with your snacks and enjoy entertainment from Jive for Five,” Schuur said.
Olde Boston’s will be extending their outdoor seating area and will be offering adult beverages.
The Fort Dodge Fine Arts Association will provide some fun activities for kids and families to take part in, Schuur said.
“And if your child is a fan of reading, the Joy Mobile will also be on hand from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. handing out free books to every kid that wants one,” she said.
Schuur said she is looking forward to a successful season of Market on Central.
“The Market on Central committee has been working diligently to make this year’s market a refreshing and enjoyable experience for all,” she said.
