Memorial Park Cemetery will be on the agenda for the Fort Dodge City Council on Monday.

The council will consider an agreement with the Iowa Insurance Division as that agency works through the process of taking control of the cemetery on Fifth Avenue South.

The site’s overgrown conditions prompted volunteers to mow the cemetery over Memorial Day weekend. Its owner has subsequently said he’s out of business and no longer taking care of the cemetery.

The council will meet at 6 p.m. Monday in the Municipal Building, 819 First Ave. S.

The council will consider the memorandum of understanding with the Iowa Insurance Division.

It will also consider giving final approval to vacating an undeveloped section of South 29th Street.
