Dodger Tennis Courts project is still out for bid

New surface will be blue in color

The Dodger Tennis Courts, located at the corner of 10th Avenue North and North 19th Street, will be resurfaced this summer.

On Monday, the Fort Dodge Community School District board once again approved plans for the project and authorized receiving competitive bids.

The board had previously opened bids for the project, but through some glitch on the service website, the project wasn’t actually posted, according to Dr. Jesse Ulrich, FDCSD superintendent.

Travis Filloon, FDCSD director of buildings and grounds, said the project was to be posted on Master Builders.

Because the project wasn’t properly posted, Filloon said none of the contractors knew about it.

“There’s no reason to believe we won’t receive bids this time,” he said.

The project includes removing existing acrylic surfacing, bituminous patching, and tennis court color system. The cost estimate for the project is $71,253.

The courts were last resurfaced in 2009.

In all, 10 courts will be resurfaced. Each court is 36 feet by 78 feet.

The outer area of the courts will be painted green. The courts themselves will be painted blue.

The project is anticipated for completion by the end of September.
