Hartley will head to FDMS

Cooper principal accepts new role

Bruce Hartley, who has served as the Cooper Elementary School principal for the past seven years, will be taking his leadership experience to the Fort Dodge Middle School next fall.

Hartley will serve as an assistant principal at the school. He will be paid an annual salary of $114,962.

Hartley replaces Valerie Jergens, who resigned from that position.

Both personnel changes were approved with one motion as part of the consent agenda Monday night at the Fort Dodge Community School District board meeting.

Also approved in that motion was the appointment of Ryan Utley as the next director of buildings and grounds. His employment is effective July 1.

Utley will replace Travis Filloon in that role. Filloon’s retirement was announced earlier in the year.

Other personnel changes that were board approved included the resignation of Rob Hughes as assistant superintendent and the appointment of Adam Kent as assistant principal at Fort Dodge Senior High.
