Community Thanksgiving meals offered in Fort Dodge

Two community meal options will be available Thursday for those who want some company or aren’t able to make a traditional Thanksgiving feast.

The Salvation Army and Fort Dodge Ford Lincoln Toyota will both be serving dinner.

The Salvation Army’s meal will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 126 N. Seventh St.

“It’s open to everybody,” said Capt. Rick Hamelund of The Salvation Army.

“It’s all homemade,” he said of the meal.

He said The Salvation Army has served up to 150 people in the past.

“We’re preparing for a lot,” he said.

The meal at Fort Dodge Ford Lincoln Toyota will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The dealership is located at 2723 Fifth Ave. S.

Meals will be delivered to those who cannot leave their homes to come to the dinner. For meal delivery, call 576-7505.

The food will be prepared by Chef Michael Hirst and the culinary students of Iowa Central Community College.

Music will be provided by Tracy Ernst.

Businesses and groups donating food and supplies for the event include Community Orchard, Friendship Haven, Hy-Vee, Candies & More, Great Western Dining Service, Lynch Farms, Buske Gardens, Noon Sertoma, Becker Florist and Great Western Bank.
