Supervisors support FD intermodal effort
Webster Count Supervisors voted Tuesday to show their support of a grant to build an intermodal hub in Fort Dodge.
The city has planned to build a parking garage with bike rental and bus access to serve as a transportation hub on First Avenue South, linking the Warden Plaza and a proposed cultural and recreation center.
The City Council on Monday night endorsed an application for a $7.63 million federal grant that would pay much of the cost of the facility. This grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation is called Better Utilizing Investment to Leverage Development — BUILD.
The county will have no obligation in this project, Leffler said; adding this is just a letter of support.
If awarded, the grant will pay for about 66 percent of the estimated $11.5 million cost of the hub.
