A Fort Dodge man is facing two class B felonies after he allegedly robbed a man and forced the victim to go to another location.
Keaton Collins, 28, is charged with one count of second-degree kidnapping and one count of first-degree robbery.
The incident happened around 1:30 a.m. Sunday.
The victim, a man from Webster City was inside a home on Haskell Street when Collins and “several other individuals” assaulted him, according to the criminal complaints, filed with the Webster County attorney’s office.
Collins and the others were armed with weapons, including guns, a 2-by-4 and a knife, according to the complaint.
The suspects then allegedly emptied the victim’s pockets before ordering him to the ground on his knees.
The victim, who has not been named, feared for his life, the complaint stated.
The victim was then forced from the home into his own vehicle; he was then taken to an apartment in the 2800 block of 10th Avenue North.
On the way, Collins ordered the victim to stop, the complaint states. Collins then went into the apartment, leaving the victim in the car.
The victim “stated that when he saw officers at the apartment building he needed to approach the officers for help because he feared that Keaton and the other parties involved were going to harm him.”
Collins was arrested and made his initial appearance in Webster County Magistrate Court Monday morning.
Magistrate William Thatcher ordered Collins held on $25,000 cash-only bonds on each charge, for a total bond amount of $50,000 cash.
Thatcher also issued a no-contact order between Collins and the victim.
A preliminary hearing has been set for Oct. 31.
