Police continue to investigate Wednesday shooting

Fort Dodge police are continuing to investigate a shooting that happened Wednesday afternoon in Fort Dodge.

Nobody was hurt and no property was damaged.

Officers are gathering information about the shooting, which was reported at 4:03 p.m. in the 1100 block of Crawford Avenue.

Capt. Ryan Gruenberg, of the Fort Dodge Police Department, said officers arrived on scene and began searching for evidence. They found shell casings along the Fort Dodge Nature Trail between Snell-Crawford Park and North 15th Street.

Other officers looked for the suspects and were able to find people matching the descriptions at a building in the 700 block of North 15th Street.

Gruenberg said the suspects were detained, and he identified them as males between the ages of 13 and 18.

Officers conducted a search of 714 N. 15th St. and found a gun, along with other evidence.

No arrests have been made and no charges have been filed yet, but Gruenberg said the Police Department is encouraging anyone who may have information to come forward.
