Officials ID woman found in submerged car

A witness saw vehicle go into pond Friday

The individual whose vehicle went into Moorland Pond Friday morning has been identified by Webster County Medical Examiner Dr. Dan Cole as Tina Loyd, 34, of Somers.

The incident was reported by a witness driving by on U.S. Highway 20 Friday morning who saw the car go into the pond.

Rescue crews, including the Moorland and Fort Dodge Fire Departments, found the submerged car after about an hour. The car was towed out of the water after a scuba diver was able to connect a cable to the submerged vehicle. Once the car was out of the water, rescue workers found the victim inside the car.

Webster County Sheriff Jim Stubbs said Friday that he did not believe there was any foul play involved.

There were no other people in the vehicle.

Cole said the remains will be transported to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Ankeny for an autopsy.

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources and the Iowa State Patrol also assisted Friday.
