Fire intentionally set at ICCC parking garage

About 12 cars were damaged from a fire that was intentionally set in the parking garage of Iowa Central Community College early Tuesday morning, according to a press release from the Fort Dodge Fire Department.

Firefighters were called to the college, 1 Triton Circle, at 4:30 a.m.

Upon arrival fire crews found multiple cars on fire in the parking structure.

Crews extinguished the fire and began an investigation to determine the origin and possible cause.

Due to the amount of damage and circumstances of this incident Fort Dodge Fire Rescue requested assistance from the State Fire Marshall Office.

A State Fire Marshall Division Special Agent Investigator along with investigators from Fort Dodge Fire and Police Departments spent much of the day processing the fire scene and collecting evidence.

The cause of the fire has been determined to arson.

Approximately 12 cars sustained fire and or heat and smoke damage. The parking structure sustained extensive damage due to heat.
