Funeral services will be held on Wed­nes­day, March 21st, at 10 a.m. at Lau­fersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home and 10:30 a.m. at Corpus Christi Church. A visitation will be TODAY from 4 to 7 p.m. with a Rosary at 4 p.m., all at Laufersweiler Funeral Home. Burial will be on Thursday at 12:30 p.m. Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter.

John is survived by his wife, Virginia Jones of Fort Dodge; daughters, Christy (Lester) Cox of Springfield, MO; Sherri (Dave) Dolecheck of Fort Dodge; and Julie (Matt) Harrold of Fort Dodge; son, Craig (Kristi) Jones of Claremore, OK; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brother, Harold Jones; and sister Mary Ann Cerwick,both of Fort Dodge; and close family friend Steve Clayton.

He was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Fern (Williams) Jones.

John R. Jones was born July 17, 1939 in Fort Dodge. He was raised and attended schools in Fort Dodge. On September 3, 1960, he was united in marriage to Virginia Reed. The couple made their home in Fort Dodge. John served in the Iowa Army National Guard as a 1st Sergeant and worked at the Iowa National Guard in Fort Dodge as a mechanic for over 34 years before retiring in 1992. He was a member of Holy Trinity Parish. Family was the most important in his life.

Memorials may be left to family discretion.
