Stucky running for Webster County treasurer

Kate Stucky

Kate Stucky, currently the office manager for the Greater Fort Dodge Growth Alliance, has announced her candidacy for Webster County treasurer to replace Jan Messerly, who will retire when her term expires at the end of this year.

Stucky is seeking the Republican nomination in the June primary election.

“This is an exciting time for Webster County, with a growing and thriving community and economic development success,” Stucky said. “New development means increased county revenues and a continued strong need for accountability from the treasury to ensure all accounts receivables are properly managed, reconciled and available for county leaders to meet the needs of the citizens of Webster County. It is a job that I am aptly suited to execute.”

She is the only candidate for the Republican nomination so far.

Brenda Angstrom, a clerk in the treasurer’s office, is seeking the Democratic nomination.

As the office manager for the Growth Alliance, Stucky manages the alliance’s budget, processes all accounts receivable and payable, assists with the yearly audit, and manages the daily operations of the Growth Alliance office.

She is also charged with managing the building, which houses the Growth Alliance, the Fort Dodge Convention & Visitors Bureau, the Fort Dodge Community Foundation and United Way, and Main Street Fort Dodge.

She currently serves on the Main Street Fort Dodge — SSMID board and is also the Communications Committee chair for Main Street Fort Dodge.

She has also served as treasurer and secretary for the Fort Dodge Young Professionals and continues to be an active member of the organization. She is a former board member of the YWCA.

The candidate has worked for the Growth Alliance since February 2013. She moved to Fort Dodge in 2012 and worked at Van Diest Supply Co. in Webster City before joining the alliance staff.

Stucky is originally from Bowling Green, Kentucky, where she attended Western Kentucky University and received her bachelor’s degree in finance with a concentration in financial management.

Additional experience includes managing the financials and running her husband’s company, Stucky Properties, LLC.
