Romantix robbed over weekend

An unidentified woman robbed the Romantix store in Fort Dodge over the weekend, leaving with money and merchandise.

The robbery at Romantix, 15 N. Fifth St., occurred around 11:28 p.m. Saturday.

According to the Fort Dodge Police Department, at that time a woman came into the store, went to the counter, opened her purse and demanded money from the cashier.

Other customers were present in the store during the incident.

Police said one of the witnesses looked inside the woman’s purse and saw a handgun.

The woman fled the store with an undisclosed amount of cash as well as merchandise.

Police arrived on scene at 12 a.m. Sunday.

The woman who committed the robbery is described as being in her mid 20s to early 30s, with tan skin and about 5 feet 6 inches tall. She was described as skinny, with brown hair and wearing baggy clothes which witnesses described as a white hoodie and khaki shorts.

Police are continuing to follow up on the incident.
