Clarion man, 25, faces child porn charge

CLARION – A Wright County man has been arrested for the production of child pornography, according to the Wright County sheriff’s office.

Skyler Wyatt, 25, of Clarion, was arrested on Wednesday, the sheriff’s office reported.

Wyatt was charged with sexual exploitation of a minor, which is a class C felony.

He was apprehended at his home at 603 2nd St. SE, Apt. 302, in Clarion.

According to a report, the investigation began Tuesday when Wright County authorities learned of a case in Missouri involving a potential victim and suspect who were both located in Clarion.

The information was provided by the Iowa Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

After more information came from the Rolla, Missouri, police department, local authorities prepared a search warrant for Wyatt’s home.

Upon arrival, law enforcement officers seized several electronic devices, according to a press release from the Wright County sheriff.

Wyatt is alleged to have “caused a minor to be photographed in a prohibited sexual act and the photograph was preserved on an electronic storage system,” investigators reported.

The photograph was then shared with another person, authorities said.

Wyatt is being held in the Wright County Jail on a $25,000 cash only bond.

“Any time a crime, especially of this nature, impacts a child we take it seriously and use all the resources we have available to us to ensure the safety and well-being of the children involved,” Jason Schluttenhofer, Wright County sheriff, said in a written statement.

The Wright County sheriff’s office was assisted in the investigation by the ICAC Task Force, Clarion Police Department, Webster County Cyber Crime Unit, the Wright County attorney’s office and the Iowa Department of Human Services.

The investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be filed.

Starting at $4.94/week.
