Grocery group honors Bocken
A Fort Dodge man has been honored by the Iowa Grocery Industry Association for working with the state government on behalf of businesses that sell food.
Bob Bocken was inducted into the association’s Hall of Fame. He was also presented with its Legislative Leader Award.
The awards were presented Thursday in Des Moines.
Bocken did not respond to calls seeking comment Friday.
He is an executive with of Farner-Bocken Co. in Carroll. That company distributes groceries to convenience stores, other retail outlets and hospitality businesses in Iowa and 12 other states.
In a statement announcing the awards, the association’s leadership wrote that Bocken ”grasps the importance of establishing relationships and communicating with elected officials about how proposed legislation will affect the grocery industry.”
He is a member of the association’s political action and government relations committees and has been the chairman of both.
Bocken served on the Iowa Economic Development Board for several years and was its chairman.
Locally, he has been a member of the Fort Dodge Regional Airport Commission and Webster County Development, an economic development group that was replaced by the Greater Fort Dodge Growth Alliance.
