Device leads to missing truck

A tracking device led officers to a stolen truck and two men who were subsequently arrested Tuesday morning, the Fort Dodge Police Department reported.

Police reported that Deon Clayton, 22, has been charged with first-degree theft, third-degree burglary and second-degree criminal mischief. Clayton’s address was not released.

Also, Ian Forbes, 31, was arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. His address was not provided.

At 7:56 a.m. Tuesday, police responded to Mid Country Machinery, 3478 Fifth Ave. S., when a burglary and vehicle theft was reported there.

According to police, employees of the business reported that someone had driven a vehicle through a locked gate in the back of the property and left in a 2012 Ford truck.

The truck was equipped with an asset tracking device which was activated by the employees.

That led officers to the 200 block of South 18th Street, where the truck was stopped and the two men were arrested.

Webster County sheriff’s deputies assisted Fort Dodge police.
