ROCKWELL CITY -- The Calhoun County Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors has announced that Executive Director Theresa Hildreth intends to retire at the start of 2027.
With that announcement, the board has launched the search process for the organization's next executive director.
During the past three years, CCEDC has experienced significant organizational advancement through strategic planning, enhanced countywide collaboration, expanded marketing initiatives, tourism development, workforce and leadership programming, business retention efforts, and the continued development of the Calhoun County Business Park. These initiatives have strengthened the organization's visibility, broadened regional partnerships, and created new opportunities for communities and businesses throughout the county.
Among the accomplishments helping shape the county's future are the launch of Leadership Calhoun, the expansion of business retention and outreach efforts, development of new tourism and quality-of-life campaigns, strengthened digital marketing and branding strategies, revolving loan fund growth, and continued site development and promotion tied to U.S. Highway 20 and the county's Opportunity Zone assets.
"The foundation has been built for the next chapter of growth in Calhoun County," said Hildreth. "The progress made during the past few years has been possible because of incredible partnerships between communities, businesses, volunteers, local governments, and regional organizations all working together toward a common vision. We have seen this alliance produce meaningful results through support and grant awards from organizations such as Empower Rural Iowa and the Iowa Economic Development Authority, helping launch initiatives in leadership development, tourism promotion, business marketing, and community capacity building. This transition is not about slowing down -- it is about creating an opportunity for new leadership to build upon the momentum already underway and continue positioning Calhoun County for future success."
The Board of Directors said that the search is focused on identifying a visionary and collaborative leader who can continue advancing CCEDC's mission of strengthening business growth, workforce opportunities, housing initiatives, tourism, and overall quality of life throughout Calhoun County.
"The work happening today in Calhoun County has created a strong platform for future success," Board Treasurer Dave Kistenmacher said in a statement. "We are seeking a leader who can continue moving the organization and county forward while building upon the relationships, strategic direction, and positive energy that have been established."
The executive director position is a full-time leadership role based in Rockwell City and serves as the primary coordinator for countywide economic development activities. The position works closely with businesses, local governments, community organizations, investors, and regional partners to advance projects and initiatives that support long-term county growth.
