SEV grads launch home, yard maintenance business

GOWRIE -- While many high school graduates are counting the days until they leave for college, Brady Hanson and Drake Warland are climbing atop roofs to clean gutters and scrubbing second and third story exterior windows.
The recent Southeast Valley High School graduates launched Grass to Glass Services in June, a home and yard maintenance business that has kept them busy and helping area residents with tasks that homeowners might not have the time or ability to take on.
"We wanted a job that allowed us to work for ourselves and not for someone else," said Hanson. "It's been a lot of fun, and we're staying pretty busy."
While the pair are based out of Gowrie, they've done quite a bit of window cleaning, lawn mowing, weed trimming, gutter maintenance, pressure washing, and more in surrounding communities including Fort Dodge and at Twin Lakes.
"This is fun," said Hanson. "We're really enjoying it. We've done a lot of work in Fort Dodge and just finished a bunch of houses at the lake. We work hard to get the job done and we're happy to help."
In addition to summertime home maintenance tasks, Hanson said they're also looking to provide snow removal for the upcoming Iowa winter season.
"We've been given two snowblowers by a guy that we're doing work for," said Hanson. "So we're hoping to be able to provide snow removal as well."
Hanson and Warland offer free estimates for essential home and yard maintenance, and said that if there's a task that needs done and perhaps isn't part of their current list of services, that potential customers should just ask. They may be able to help.
