He started on the job Monday.

Elkins was most recently the senior vice president of operations at Ruan Transportation Management Systems.

He has 30 years of experience in transportation and logistics, managing dedicated operations, logistics services , warehousing, and less than truck load operations.

“With a history of producing growth results, Bob will play a key role in developing new business verticals while enhancing our current business with the larger goal of growing our company into an industry leading, multi-solution transportation service provider,” said Dale Decker, chief executive officer of The Decker Companies.

Elkins said he was honored to become part of the organization.

Elkins is an Army veteran who served in the 1st Special Forces Group.

After his military service, he became an owner/operator in his family’s trucking company. Then he owned a small transportation company.

He next moved to Schneider National. He held a variety of positions in that company, starting as a service team leader. He went on to serve as team operations manager, global client manager, director of dedicated operation, global customer general manager, general manager of dedicated services and senior vice president and general manager for dedicated services/logistics/LTL.
