Mary Phipps, then 17, of Pilot Mound, enters the Stratford Lutheran Church during the annual Lucia Pageant. Phipps was crowned the 2010 Lucia. The event is sponsored by the Swedish Foundation of Iowa’s Swede Bend Settlement Inc., which works to preserve the history and traditions of the Stratford area’s Swedish ancestry.
