A miniature horse watches as Emilie Happel, Friends of the Oleson Park Zoo members and other volunteers paint a fence at the Oleson Park Zoo. Constructed by Stewart Andresen, Friends of Oleson Park board member, the fence meant petting zoo animals would be separate from visitors when they first walk into the zoo. A new sidewalk was also completed at the entrance of the zoo, making it more handicapped-accessible, said Diane Happel, vice president of Oleson Park Zoo. “It’s so much easier for people to come in with wheelchairs and strollers. It used to be next to impossible with the gravel,” she said. Behind Emilie Happel are Diane Happel and Vicky Groat.
