Demolition of 515-519 First Ave. S., shown here, was slated for the spring of 2010. Members of the Fort Dodge City Council voted unanimously to purchase the property for $149,000. Tearing down the building was to clear the way for a possible relocation of Second Avenue South and the conversion of First Avenue South to two-way traffic, part of a downtown improvement plan that was proposed for the city.
