Cole Osterberg drops one of the student creations made to protect an egg as it fell from the roof of Feelhaver Elementary School onto the lawn 15 feet below. The students built the devices to learn about physics — and how bike helmets protect heads. A wide variety of materials were used to cushion the eggs, including mini-marshmallows, bubble wrap, bags of rice, various types of foam, cotton balls and even diapers. The student devices all worked. Out of all the eggs dropped, none broke.
